School closure info

A message from the DSKI school office:

Dear parents,

Following the information from the Japanese government yesterday and my email last night, I am writing to you now to confirm that the school will be closed from Monday the 2nd to March 28th. We will be back at school the 30th of March.
(Please note these dates do include the scheduled spring break holiday)

The school will be closed for all students including Early Years. The school office will be open though, so if you need to call in for any reason we will be open every day 9.00am - 4.00pm.

Today though is a school day as usual, including clubs.

We will be sending homework today - for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, across all subject areas. You'll receive an email later today from your class teacher giving full instructions for what students will need to do. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask your teacher.

From Wednesday morning we will launch our remote learning via Google Classrooms. Full instructions will be given Monday next week.
You will need to have access to the internet. We know families have two or more children so the work will be set up so they can take turns at the computer. We will also have work the old fashioned way on paper and in books. Teachers will be online and available for support to both students and parents.

If you don't have a computer, it is possible to borrow a school laptop. You would need to call in next week and pick one up - numbers are limited. Please email me directly if you would like to borrow one.

All trips will of course be cancelled, including the ski trip. We are very sorry, we will look for a possible alternative in early summer, if it makes sense. Our Book and Culture Week (9 - 13th March) will be postponed until early summer.

We've had a whole school assembly this morning and all students are informed about the closure and why. They are also informed about the ski trip. The reaction was very mature and understanding, I was so proud of all our students!

My apologies for the situation, we will do all we can to make sure this goes as smoothly as possible for all families. If you do have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me directly anytime.

Yours sincerely,

Alex Inman.
