Preparations for G3/4 upcoming Unit of Inquiry

Dear Parents,

For our new unit on ENERGY, Grade 3 are going to be Scientists.
In order to develop our scientific thinking, we are going to be conducting some basic experiments.[This article on the value of scientific thinking may interest you]

In order to prepare for this, we are asking that all learner have access to the resources on this Unit Supplies List.
Some of these supplies you may already have at home, most of them are easily available from Daiso or Lawson. Please try to make certain you have all of these supplies over the next two weeks.

*Me and Ms. J have a stock of LED lights at school - if you do not have one at home and aren't able to purchase a single unit please let us know and you can come and collect one from school or we will send you one in the post.

A very bug thanks for your support in this.

A special message from DSKI to YOU

Although we are physically apart these days, we are still a community who CARES about each other.
And because we truly MISS all of you, here is a special message from DSKI to YOU. We hope you like it!

With love from all the DSKI teachers and staff.

Learning from home in our virtual classroom

Dear Grade 3 families,

We are now completing our first full week of learning online. It has been challenging and exciting and (I think) at times a little confusing. I really, really appreciate all your support as we adjust to our current circumstances.

I wanted to say how proud I am of Grade 3 learners. They have shown themselves to be independent and Thinkers. I have seen some truly impressive and insightful work being shared over the past week. I am also impressed at how well and how quickly learners have developed the technology skills required to communicate and succeed in a virtual classroom.

Stay stay, stay happy and health. I hope to see everyone again soon.

School closure info

A message from the DSKI school office:

Dear parents,

Following the information from the Japanese government yesterday and my email last night, I am writing to you now to confirm that the school will be closed from Monday the 2nd to March 28th. We will be back at school the 30th of March. (Please note these dates do include the scheduled spring break holiday)
The school will be closed for all students including Early Years. The school office will be open though, so if you need to call in for any reason we will be open every day 9.00am - 4.00pm.
Today though is a school day as usual, including clubs.
We will be sending homework today - for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, across all subject areas. You'll receive an email later today from your class teacher giving full instructions for what students will need to do. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask your teacher.
From Wednesday morning we will launch our remote learning via Google Classrooms. Full instruction…

Winter Trip health & safety update from the office

Dear parents of Grade 3 - 6,

A message from the DSKI school office:

Regarding the ski trip, we have confirmed today that there are no foreign groups booked at the Blue Ridge Resort next week, where our students will be staying. The first night they will be alone, and the next two, some Japanese guests will stay.
They are not accepting bookings from Coronavirus affected areas.
They also have all sensible precautions in place.
So we are going to continue with the ski trip booking. If things do change between now and next week we will of course take action.
